Hi.

Welcome to She’s Full of Lit!

Here, we chat about our favorite (and sometimes least favorite) books, share recommendations on everything from what wine pairs best with that work of fiction to facemasks that make your non-fiction read even better, and live our best basic bookworm lives.

I hope you’re escaping somewhere sunny, even if it’s only in your mind!

It may be an unwritten rule of She’s Full of Lit that one of us shares a sobering political article weekly, and I guess it’s my turn today: “Buckle Up for Another Facebook Election.” Is it time to make Mark Zuckerburg voodoo doll yet?

“The Inception Ending of Little Women was a fascinating read, especially if you are as into the movie as I am. (Shannon thinks the 1994 version is better, which I respect but she’s wrong). It may be because I loved the characters so much, and in fact, this was the first time I ever liked Amy. This profile of Florence Pugh was wonderful, and I’m definitely rooting for her to win the Oscar.

You know we love baths around here (you may have seen several Insta posts about it from Moira and me), and so we fully endorse this at SFOL headquarters: Baths are the Coffee of the Evening and More People Should Take Them.

Modern Mrs. Darcy is the first book blog I remember reading, and even years later, it’s still an absolute favorite of mine. This week she published her Winter Book Preview, which is amazing and bad for my wallet — I know I’ve talked here about pre-ordering books for myself as gifts to future Elizabeth. Wondering which ones will be winging their way to me at some point soon (either from Amazon or the DC Public Library)? “Good Girls Lie” by J.T. Ellison, “Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line” by Deepa Anappara, “The Resisters” by Gish Jen, and “A Long Petal of the Sea” by Isabel Allende.

Moira and Elizabeth keep talking about baths, forgetting that I don’t even have a bathtub in my tiny New York apartment. Rude. (Also, Winona + Christian 4 life.)

Unlike what seems like the majority of New Yorkers, I’m not firmly on the anti-DiBlasio train. But, this is a no from me. Whole wheat bagels are disgusting.

This manicure photo spread from Into The Gloss is especially relevant this week as I was thisclose to switching things up and getting navy on my nails at the salon last weekend. But in the end, I stuck with my signature fall/winter color, a deep wine-colored red. (See insert.) (It also matches my favorite winter lip gloss.)

This take on the Oscar noms from Mark Harris at Vanity Fair is 100 EMOJI. …Congratulations to those men.

I was influenced by Lindsay Silberman (whose blog and Insta you should check out) to purchase these boots from Asos and I could not be more obsessed. I’ve been wearing them all week to break them in before I walk 20,000 steps a day in Paris this weekend, and they are super comfy. (I typically wear a 9.5 in shoes and got the 9 since they don’t have half sizes.)

This New York Times profile of Rudy Guiliani is…something else.

As of the time of your reading this, I’m in Paris, following the detailed itinerary I made. This New York Magazine piece validated my travel methods: plan meticulously and familiarize yourself with the different neighborhoods, public transit, and tourist spot hours; and be flexible once you’re on vacation if you want to mix things up.
