Hi.

Welcome to She’s Full of Lit!

Here, we chat about our favorite (and sometimes least favorite) books, share recommendations on everything from what wine pairs best with that work of fiction to facemasks that make your non-fiction read even better, and live our best basic bookworm lives.

The Reading List: July 12, 2019

In addition to all the books we read, we all spend a lot of time on the internet #oldmillennials #wecontainmultittudes. So, every Friday, we round up some of our favorite finds — articles, products, memes, whatever — from the week to share with you. TGIF.

Honestly, my favorite thing this week was the Women’s National Team because they…are just the best. This article about they are the ultimate team for the Trump era is similarly great, and my only admonition would be…don’t read the comments.

My boyfriend was flying home from a trip last week, and his seven hours in an airport gave me the opportunity to share one of my favorite pieces of journalism ever: Caity Weaver’s Attempt at Endless Cheesesticks (RIP Gawker). I know this is several years old at this point, but it is still just as amazing, and re-reading it brought me such joy.

I’ll be honest, I can never really remember my enneagram type (I think I’m a 1 or a 3? maybe a 5?), but I do love reading about how your personality can impact your productivity. Also, maybe I should retake the quiz this weekend so I am more productive at work next week?

I don’t love to spend a ton of money on sunglasses because my dog has a habit of snacking on them, and I also feel like that’s an easy way to look trendy when the majority of your wardrobe can be charitably called “classic.” I just ordered two pairs this week at Nordstrom, and they were only $16! I am so pumped for them to arrive. Oh, and don’t worry, we aren’t lifestyle or fashion bloggers, so this will not turn into a slideshow of my NSale finds.

Finally, if you haven’t read Serena Williams’ piece in Harper’s Bazaar, you must not follow the same people on Instagram that I do. A particular highlight: I started to think again, “What could I have done better? Was I wrong to stand up? Why is it that when women get passionate, they’re labeled emotional, crazy, and irrational, but when men do they’re seen as passionate and strong?”

I love sleep and I love seltzer, and therefore I really love Recess seltzer, affectionately known by me as “sleepy slelz.” It has 25 calories, and its a light, refreshing way to get in 10 mg of CBD, which I find helps me fall asleep and stay asleep.

Summer in NYC is brutal, and if your inner thighs brush at all (or a lot) #thickthighssavelives, you need this. Easier than wearing shorts under dresses, and with an ingredient list that doesn’t make my feel I’ll contract a gynecological cancer within the next few months from using it, I’m a big fan of Megababe Thigh Rescue.

The whole She’s Full of Lit team is enamored of Fenty Stunna in Uncensored. There’s a learning curve to applying it, as it can get everywhere (I recommend doing your makeup out of order and applying lipstick first so you can use makeup remover to get any errant spots.) It stays on all night, and is universally flattering—bold but you could still wear it to a work event.
