Hi.

Welcome to She’s Full of Lit!

Here, we chat about our favorite (and sometimes least favorite) books, share recommendations on everything from what wine pairs best with that work of fiction to facemasks that make your non-fiction read even better, and live our best basic bookworm lives.

Shannon

This Marie Claire profile of Marisol Nichols (who plays Hermoine Lodge on “Riverdale”) is a JOURNEY.

I love Hunter Harris’ writing (and her Twitter), and her Top Shelf on ITG did not disappoint.

I just bought a Dutch oven and am making this ragu tonight. Will report back.

Movie characters we wouldn’t’ want to be quarantined with. I’ll add Hannibal Lector to that list.

On a serious note, the murder of Ahmaud Arbery in my home state became nationally infamous this week, and I am very tired of people only demanding justice for the murder of black people when there is video evidence. The fact that his murderers were arrested more than 2 months later is not justice. Please read about the case from the perspective of black activists and writers (Charles M. Blow in particular) and remember that America’s racial contract is nothing new.

Elizabeth

I live alone, and I haven’t interacted closer than 6 feet with another human being in my life since March 13 (not that I’m counting or anything). It’s been incredibly hard, and I consider myself an introvert. This post, about living alone during quarantine, hit me in all the feels.

I consider myself a connoisseur of Disney Channel Original Movies, and so I was very interested in Vultures’s Ranking of all 105 DCOMs. I don’t necessarily agree with the top 10 (Zenon and Cadet Kelly are not ranked nearly high enough, imo), but the biggest lesson is that I have lots of new content to watch on Disney+ while sheltering in place.

This was cool: What Happens After You Get Your Nancy Meyers Kitchen.

Friday was the 75th Anniversary of VE Day (when World War II ended in Europe), and I loved this look at what really happened when Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret went out to celebrate with the country.

Moira

The Cut keeps featuring cool houses from people who live in my neighborhood, and I’m angling for invites once that is again allowed.

On a dark note, I do think it’s important that we all read about Ahmaud Arbery, who was murdered in cold blood in February while out on a run. If you are able to #runwithmaud this weekend, please join me in doing so. No justice, no peace.

I adored Man Repeller’s Love Letters to New York, all of the uniquely New York experiences we’re missing out on right now.

At least we still have SNL, in all its uneven glory. (BTW: The addition of Bowen Yang as featured player this season has been my favorite thing they’ve done in years)

I am a huge fan of Universal Standard, a truly inclusive fashion line that carries clothes from 00-40. Amazingly high quality and at a reasonable price point, their stuff is great. They also did a huge giveaway to HCPs during COVID, and some friends were able to get some basics! They also exchange certain items through their Fit Liberty plan if your size changes within a year of purchase. I had an amazing experience at their showroom in SoHo, and I have major clothes trying-on trauma, so that tells you something. This about describes it.
